UPDATE ON HUNCOAT GARDEN VILLAGE CONSULTATION

Published by: , on:

With one week to go before the public consultation for Huncoat Garden Village closes (midnight Sunday 6 June) over 100 people have taken part so far.

Hyndburn Borough Council have listened to early feedback and are urging people to use this opportunity to get involved and have their voice heard.

Mark Hoyle, Head of Regeneration and Housing at Hyndburn Borough Council, said:

“The consultation has been really well received and many people have been in touch to say how much they enjoyed the virtual exhibition room. Some people did highlight concerns about the accessibility of this and, although we are also offering the option of a paper-based information pack, we agree having as many viewing options as possible is important.

“I am pleased to say the team worked quickly after this feedback and have now added the exhibition information boards as individual PDF’s on the website for viewing, in addition to the virtual consultation room being available.”

The information, virtual exhibition room and questionnaire can be viewed at: www.huncoatgardenvillage.co.uk, alternatively to request the information by post please email enquiries@hyndburnbc.gov.uk or call 07768632556.

Mark continued:

“We have received many requests for hard copies of the questionnaire and to make sure people have enough time to read this before the deadline our officers are delivering these personally to local residents. There are posters in notice boards and Huncoat Forum have kindly offered to distribute our leaflets to local residents to highlight the consultation, which is a fantastic help.

“Preliminary results from the questionnaire highlight concerns raised regarding the route of the new relief road. The design and route of this new road is not yet set, the preferred Huncoat Master Plan shows an indicative route for the proposed new road. This aspect requires some further work and I am pleased to say Hyndburn Borough Council will commission this, taking into consideration results from this consultation.

“It is really important to us we hear from as many people as possible. If you have friends, family or neighbours that might not be aware of the consultation please let them know and encourage them to take part.”

Huncoat Garden Village is an opportunity for new high-quality housing in an attractive landscape setting with community facilities, access to employment opportunities and vital improvement to transport connections. Alongside new infrastructure there are also proposals to develop open space and green corridors to improve wellbeing and village life for all.

Guiding future development in Huncoat to meet the demand for more new homes in Hyndburn, the Masterplan details a series of proposals for the creation of Huncoat Garden Village. The Masterplan includes proposals for a new village centre, a new road, existing road network improvements and high-quality new homes.
