Children’s Artwork Transformed into Accrington Town Square Boards
Following a series of workshops where children were invited to Haworth Art Gallery, Hyndburn Council are pleased to share that the fantastic artwork produced is now well underway to being digitised.
Once digitised by partner company Media Village, a local company known for their digital expertise, the artwork will be used as part of the design on signage, scaffold or temporary fencing used around Accrington Town Square amid renovation plans across next year.

rary fences – or ‘hoardings’ – will be installed around Accrington Town Square as needed while whilst construction works are being carried out on the three Town Centre Investment Plan buildings (Accrington Market, Burtons Chambers, and Market Chambers) to create a bright and welcoming vision amid the transformation.
This follows the latest announcement that during the transformation of the three project buildings, some of the Market traders will be relocated into bespoke cabins that they have co-designed to meet their business needs, which are currently being installed in the Town Square.
Led by local print-making artist, Jessica Jayne Designs, the workshops gave children the chance to try out ink printing and creating their own printing blocks, using the Gallery’s collection of Broadoak Printworks woodblocks as inspiration to create vibrant designs that reflect Tiffany Glass and the history of printed cotton within Hyndburn.
Cllr Mohammed Younis, Portfolio Holder for Levelling Up (pictured with Gillian Berry at Haworth Art Gallery), said:
“There is so much joy in seeing people come together as a community to help support the ongoing transformational plans. The children and people who took part did such a wonderful job channelling their creativity to create a unified piece of beautiful artwork.
“It will be a real pleasure to see these designs around our town centre whilst construction work is being carried out and I hope all the children feel especially proud of themselves once they see it in place!”
