Radiation Monitoring in Hyndburn

Hyndburn Borough Council is a member of Radiation Monitoring in Lancashire (RADMIL).

RADMIL was established by the District and County Councils in 1985 to provide independant monitoring of environmental radiation levels.

Exposure in Lancashire to all forms of radiation is lower than the national average, mainly due to lower levels of naturally-occuring radon.

Officers from each participating Authority carry out a series of air measurements and collect local samples of food and environmental material.
