Awarded a Green Flag for 2022-2023

Accrington Cemetery is located on Burnley Road (BB5 6HA) and is the largest and oldest cemetery in Hyndburn, dating back to 1864. To date there have been over 61,450 interments carried out.

With northerly views of the Lancashire countryside and Pendle Hill, the site includes a main drive leading to the Crematorium Chapel and lined with lime trees and flanked by seasonal flower beds ensuring colour throughout the year. The grounds are maintained to a high standard and has been awarded a Green Flag Award for 2019 – 2020.

The Cemetery and Crematorium office is situated at the main entrance to the cemetery and is open during weekdays. Contact the office on 01254 232 933. The cemetery itself is open at all times.

Car Parking

The majority of the cemetery has vehicle access and there are two car-parks with designated disabled parking bays.

Toilets

There are toilets available within the cemetery that are located near the Crematorium Chapel. The toilets are open Monday to Friday 8.00am to 4.30pm during the summer months, and Monday to Friday 8.00am to 3.00pm during the winter months.

Seating and water

There are areas of seating throughout the cemetery for visitors to sit and reflect and remember their loved ones. There are water taps and waste bins located throughout the cemetery.

The cemetery occupies over 45 acres and is split into seven areas :

Roman Catholic Area, Church of England Area, Non-Conformist Area, Muslim Area, Ashes Area, Infant Area, Gardens of Remembrance .
