What Do I Need To Consider When Looking For A Home?
You may be entitled for assistance with your rent through LHA (housing benefit). This applies if you are on a low income or in receipt of some other benefits.
When you are looking for a new home you need to think about how the weekly rent compares to the Local Housing Allowance (LHA). The Housing Advice Team can advise you of the LHA rates for properties in the borough. LHA does not cover certain charges; these include charges for water, heating and other domestic bills.
LHA may not cover all your rent and you will also be responsible for any shortfall not covered by LHA payments.
