Compost

Consider composting your garden clippings and veggie peelings, as this can then be put back into the soil, once it has rotted down, to help improve the soils structure and provide nutrients. It also reduces the amount of methane, one of the green house gases, entering the atmosphere as the green waste is not entering the landfill environment.

Avoid using peat based products try using alternatives such as peat free composts, coir or coconut fibre, farm yard manure and cocoa bean residues. Producing your own compost is certainly the most cost effective way!
