Introduction

Council Tax is a national system of paying a tax towards local services.  It was introduced in 1993 and is collected in Hyndburn by us as a billing authority.

We collect Council Tax on behalf of Lancashire County Council, Lancashire Fire and Rescue and Lancashire Police and Crime Commissioner.  72.5% of the Council Tax bill is collected on behalf of Lancashire County Council, Hyndburn Borough Council receives 12.5%, 11.3% goes to Lancashire Police and Crime Commissioner and 3.7% goes to Lancashire Fire and Rescue
