What is an Event?

 

An event is an organised activity that invites members of the public to attend, either for free or for a charge. Hyndburn Borough Council is an events friendly borough, we positively welcome and encourage applications to host events in our parks and other council owned sites.

There are many types of events and many places and venues where events take place on either public or private land. For example, an event can be a:

  • Street Party – please go to the Street Party page
  • Community celebration
  • Specialist street market
  • Marathon or fun run
  • Charity fundraising
  • Fun days
  • Parade, procession or march
  • Music or sports festival
  • Car boot sales
  • Music or sports festival
  • Fete, fair, firework display or bonfire


If you are planning to hold an event on council land you need to apply to our events team by completing an Events Application Form to access the application form and guidance information.

 

A FULLY COMPLETED EVENTS APPLICATION FORM MUST BE SUBMITTED TO THE COUNCIL AT LEAST 6 WEEKS BEFORE THE DATE OF THE EVENT.
