Accrington LUF Project Appoints PMO and Design Team
Accrington LUF extend their programme team with the appointment of a PMO and Design Team led by AECOM and Hive Projects.
Hive Projects will manage the Project Management Office, a role that involves managing their wider team who will develop the design, providing support to the Market Traders as through the moves required to carry out the work, and delivering the social value and communications tasks needed for the project.
Patrick Hickey (Hive Projects), Associate Director & Project Lead said “it is not often that you get the opportunity to deliver a project that will have such a direct positive impact on a community. This project can be the catalyst for future growth across Accrington more widely, providing much needed high quality office space, a brand-new refurbished market hall as well as supporting a cultural offering within the town centre. The improvements will help to enhance the look of the town centre, upgrade the council’s assets, reduce the council’s environmental impact and running costs and contribute to ensuring the future sustainability of the town centre”.
The professional team appointed includes organisations such as AEW Architects, SI Sealy Building Engineering Services, Civic, Structural Engineers and LDA Planning Consultants.
The three projects that have secured funding are:
- Accrington Market Hall, which will be refurbished and transformed into a food and drink destination for local people and to welcome visitors from across the county.
- Burtons Chambers building, opposite the Town Hall and Market Hall, which will be restored to become a co-working space for local people to work from and for businesses and events.
- Market Chambers building, next to Burton Chambers, which will be refurbished and repaired, aiming to enable transformation into a cultural, arts and heritage venue moving forward.
