Haworth Art Gallery are pleased to share the results of their Audience Finder Report for 2022-23.

The report follows an ongoing research project into the demographic of visitors to the Gallery, comparing Haworth Art Gallery to other heritage institutions who are also part of the Museum Development North West (MDNW) Audience Champions North West cohort.

This year’s report has been overwhelmingly positive, with the Gallery receiving the highest percentage of audiences’ willingness to recommend an organisation within their cohort and a rating of 87% overall by visitors, the majority of whom rated their overall experience as very good.

It is especially commendable that the staff welcome at Haworth Art Gallery received a very good rating of 93% and visitors frequently highlighted in their feedback that they enjoyed both the Gallery Kitchen café and the gallery shop.

Gillian Berry, Art and Heritage Manager at Haworth Art Gallery, said:

“We are delighted to learn that our cohort has earned us a Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 88%, the highest in the cohort. Collecting visitor information in invaluable to the work we do. It allows us to react and change the way we work in response to what visitors want. Most of all, it ensure we are working to benefit the community.”

The Gallery asks visitors to fill out a survey during or after their visit to find out a little more about who their audience is, including questions about how often they visit, why they visit, what they do whilst they are there, and where they come from.

It is important to gather information about the visitors to the Gallery and their experiences during their visits to help shape the work that Haworth Art Gallery do in the future. The team can reflect upon the data collected and adapt the work that they do to appeal to their visitors, both present and future. It is this that in turn helps them to produce an even more exciting programme of events and exhibitions that appeals to a wider range of people.

The team are pleased to share that they have already started to implement changes based on visitor feedback, including offering nappies, wipes and nappy bags to families during their visit, and hosting a variety of family-friendly activities within the exhibition rooms (including games, drawing resources, and toys that relate to the building and collections). The team have also introduced rugs, cushions, chairs, and sofas throughout their exhibition spaces to make everyone comfortable throughout their visit.

Haworth Art Gallery is FREE to visit during gallery opening hours (12noon to 4:00pm, Wednesday to Sunday). For more information, call 01254 233 782 or follow Haworth Art Gallery and Artist Studios on Facebook to stay up to date with all the latest news and events.
