Self-Build Register

What Happens After Registering?

The Council will determine the application for entry on the self-build register within 28 days of receipt, and notify the applicant in writing of the decision.

By registering, you will be helping the Council to find out more about the demand for custom build plots within the borough, where people would like their plot to be and the type of house that they would like to build. The Council will then use the information to explore ways in which it might be possible for people and plots to be brought together through the Local Plan making process or alternative routes if available. Please note however that registration does not guarantee that a suitable plot will be identified, or become available.

Due to GDPR requirements, the Council will publish only the number of entrants on the register only. No further details will be made public without the agreement of the applicant.

The Register was updated most recently in June 2022 and there are 4 individual entries at this date and no entries from associations.

Due to the low level of interest, the Council is not currently proposing to make serviced plots available.  Applicants are encouraged to pursue other means of meeting their desire for plots such as through estate agents, land agents and plot finding services.
