Find Out About the Independent Persons

The Council appoints Independent Persons to assist in the work of the Standards Committee – they are members of the public and are not councillors or employees of the Council.  The position does not receive any remuneration, but travel and subsistence allowances can be claimed for attending meetings.

The Independent Persons are able to attend Standards Committee meetings, where they may speak.  However, the law prohibits them from having a right to vote.  The positions of Independent Persons are currently vacant.
