The area of Woodnook Vale is formally registered as a Local Nature Reserve (LNR) making it the second largest LNR in Lancashire, second only to Peel Park, also in the area!

Support has been given by a number of organisations over the years to help improve the area including the Prospects Foundation, the Lancashire Wildlife Trust and the Bullough Park Residents Association.

The improvements have also been made possible due to grants from the Lancashire Environmental Fund, the Forestry Commission, the Windfall Fund and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
